Central and southern Kyushu are dramatic riding country. The Aso caldera — one of the world's largest — offers vast grassland roads inside the crater rim; Beppu and Yufuin add hot-spring towns; and Kagoshima looks across its bay to the smoking Sakurajima volcano.
